CITI Course
  • Research personnel engaged in human subjects research must complete the Basic/Refresher Required Modules of the web-based Collaborative IRB training Initiative (CITI) Course for social behavioral research and biomedical research areas.
  • Completion of the required Basic/Refresher Required Modules takes about 3 to 4 hours; all modules do not have to be completed during "one" on-line session. To re-enter the course, remember to SAVE your "username" and "password."
  • Final approval of new studies will not be granted until CITI "Completion Report" has been received.
  • Additional optional training modules can be completed based on the research areas. For example, PI conducting international research can benefit from taking 'international research' optional module.
  • Be advised that the WSU CITI modules are specific to the WSU IRB requirements. Other agencies and institutions may have their own training requirements and are not obligated to accept completion of the WSU CITI training in place of those requirements. When conducting research in another institution or in conjunction with another agency, you may be required by the institution or agency to complete their specific training requirements (such as additional CITI modules), and/or complete refresher courses according to their renewal requirements (such as more frequently than the WSU requirement of every 5 years).
